Doobie doo wop!

Ahh! Disappointment! Neglect!

I really feel as though I've been slacking in my blog updates as of late.  The truth is, I've been kind of busy.  And by "kind of" I mean super.

But, alas, my busy-ness will be slowing now that Nick and Kat's wedding has come and gone (which may be written about later, with photos).

However, I AM crazy busy right this moment....because I'm at work.  I'm taking my 15 minute break (which I rarely remember to take) to reach out to you and let you know you're missed.

So as to not completely bore you with my apologies and ill feelings about abandonment I'll share with you a list.  This is going to be a list of things I clearly love (based on what I can find in my cubicle).

1.) My Mister. There's a very adorable picture of us on my desk that I get to see often.

2.) Cream Soda. There are 5 glass bottles emptied of this stuff. 2 different brands (I recommend Henry Weinhard's).

3.) Corgis. Namely, Ash.

4.) Colorful pens for doodling.

5.) Post it notes.

6.) Hidden candy treasures.

7.) My phone. It's much prettier now that I've removed the cover.

8.) Printouts that make me seem important. Such as ebay awards and the like.
There, all better. You've gotten your fix!

Ladies Lunching

There's a reason to have a ladies night every once in a while.

There's something to be said about sitting down with a good friend, no boys included, and normalizing your past experiences.  It's necessary to retaining sanity in an otherwise crazy world.

Recently, I've had a lot of female bonding experiences.  Just last weekend, I went down to Cedar Point with 5 amazing ladies for my (soon to be) sister in law's bachelorette party.  Gossiping about those boys in our lives and talking about things like peeing in a funnel is something you just can't get when there's a penis present.  Unless of course that boy is there to make your bond closer through teasing.

Another good place to have a ladies night is at a local pub with tasty food.  Bonding over feta and goat cheese is always easier.  And having Chris Klein and Adam Rodriguez show up can make things even awesomer.  (In case you're wondering, they're from American Pie and CSI: Miami respectively).

So, trust me, if you haven't had a lady date recently, it would do you some good to seek one out.  You'll never learn more about yourself if you can't vent about things and have an objective perspective on the matter.

PS - Cheers to Nick and Kat's wedding tomorrow!

I want to ride my bicycle. I want to ride my bike.

Fiona

Fiona - Taken by Erich

Let me get this straight.

There are those of you who do not enjoy riding bikes, correct?

As someone who used to scoff at the idea of riding a bike as a form of transportation anywhere but on a bike trail or college campus, I can relate. But as of late, as many of you know, I've become enthralled with the idea of riding a bike wearing adorable little outfits and going downtown for drinks and the like.

Mostly, I want to ride my bike to the farmer's market.

So, a little while ago, I finagled my mom into trading us two bikes. We haven't ridden them terribly often but when we have, it's been fun and plenty worthwhile.

Well, mister was looking for a new old bike on Craigslist like mad and had enlisted me to his search party. He was looking for a Schwinn Varsity after having his stolen a year ago. As an avid craiglister, I would check the bike section daily for a bike for him until one day I saw a beautiful bike at a great price.

It was a 1970 something black Raleigh LTD-3. She was beautiful with her fenders and brooks saddle and at the price tag of $50 I knew I had to take a look at her. John and I drove out that very night to check out this deal and I bought her on the spot despite having a few technical problems and me being convinced that she was too tall for my stubby legs. (Oh, John bought a Schwinn from the guy too).

Since bringing her home, I've given her to my brother for some sprucing up since he's the resident bike guru. And now she's fixed and ready for riding! All she really needs is a beautiful wicker basket for carrying vegetables and maybe chinese take-out. I can't wait to get her home and ride her. I just hope she's more comfortable on my lady bits than I remember.

I'm a doctor, not a physicist!

It's a very rare occasion when I win something from a drawing.

Considerably more rare is the idea that I could win something totally awesome.

Well, the fates were with me one morning about a week ago when my mister woke me up saying, "Get up. I need you to enter to win something."  Eventually his plan worked and I was awake enough to send the local news station my name and information in order to win Star Trek pre-screen tickets for four.

Cut to about an hour later and I'm receiving a phone call telling me I'm awesome and that they couldn't bear to not give me the tickets. (Or something to that affect I'm sure).  That's right folks, I won tickets to see the new Star Trek movie 2 days before it was going to be screening nationwide.  A movie I'd pay to see anyway.  Awesome!

Wednesday finally arrived and I was so excited to get to me freebie that I actually had to leave work 15 minutes early just to contain my joy.  (Or because I was told to be there really early).  Will, Sam, John and I hurried off to Alpine to partake in Qdoba and a free movie a mear 1.5 hours before the film was to begin.

Sitting in a theater full of a grand assortment of people was interesting, to say the least.  There were douchebag teens who went crazy on the reserved seating for the press and were met with my taunts.  And there were smelly, smelly superfans who were almost too large to move over so a family could sit together.  And, of course, there was us.  A true pack of hip nerds.  (Yeah, I'm hip now. I have bangs).

Right as Miss Sam was getting ready to demand the movie start, the lights dimmed and the crowd went mostly quiet.  It was so exciting!

Now, I would love to do what I do best and ruin the experience for you by divulging too many details, but I'll refrain.  I'll just give you my impression.

It. was. AWESOME. Honestly, I really liked it a lot.  I didn't necessarily think I'd enjoy it nearly as much as I did.  I swear, I could have peed my pants from excitement and too much soda.  There was even a point that Sam and I were so tense that we held hands.  Pretty intense.

I can feel details working there way through my system and down to my finger tips so I'm going to go ahead and stop myself now.  But I leave you with my recommendation:  See this movie.

I'm a Lady, that's Why

I realize now that these blog endeavors need an overarching theme.

Therefore, my theme, believe it or not, is being a lady and doing so in style.  Granted, I'm not super stylish in some cases, but I am a lady at all times.

Especially when I toot.

Ladies toot. Non-ladies fart.  Lesson One.

Here's another very important lesson for you: RSVP-ing is one of the most important and classy things you need to do.

I recently threw a bridal shower with my lovely sisters for our soon to be lovely other sister.  And guess what! Very few people RSVPed! Despite there being several options for how to do so on the invite.  They will forever be shamed for this oversight.  If you don't want to be shamed, learn that it's customary to RSVP by the date you're told to do so.

Speaking of the shower, it was lovely.  Very comforatble and cute.  I'm officially a fan of gatherings of generations of women and margaritas.  And games!  Wait, I was already a fan of games.  Well, anyway. It was very nice.

Oh, another note - Ladies love to drink cocktails outside.  When confronted with the option of what to do on a sunny day, it's a safe bet to suggest drinking daiquiries out on tha patio.  This goes double if you can arrange for some classy records to be playing.

Also, this classy lady enjoys winning nerdy movie tickets.  Maybe other ladies like space movies, but it's not safe to assume on that one.  Best to ask first.
